At the Institute of Healthy Aging we have several approaches to Weight Gain. From DNA testing to laser, we are here to assist you in transforming yourself and achieving a healthier and better you.

We offer DNA testing through myDNAhealth.

myDNAhealth helps you discover your unique genetic profile, so you can eat the right foods, do the right exercises and take supplements that really benefit your body. We have grown up in a time of diets and trendy fitness workouts – the new craze and the next best thing. There’s a very high chance that something which worked for someone else, won’t work for you – there is no ‘one size fits all’ solution.

We have somehow forgotten that each of us has a unique body that needs to be treated in that very way – uniquely. Our individual genetic make-up means that our bodies process foods differently. Even after eating the same foods, some of us put on more weight than others. This is what can fail in you.

Our science-based genetic testing methodology will show you the causes of your weight gain and identifies the lifestyle factors making you feel miserable or lacking in energy.

In addition to our DNA testing programme, we also offer a B-HCG weight-loss programme.

The programme is based on treating low leptin levels and has three components: a low GI eating plan, supplements in the form of capsules and a series of injections. These injections contain B-HCG or Pregnyl. This pregnancy hormone is what sustains the placenta in the first weeks of pregnancy by stimulating the brain. In obesity, the B-HCG likewise stimulates the brain, but in this circumstance, it re-awakens the Pituitary centre and stimulates hormones that will start to correct the weight gain. An important hormone that B HCG stimulates is Leptin.

The injections bring the leptin levels back into balance and help rid the body of “abnormal” fat in a safe and controlled way. Leptin is a hormone that is secreted by fat cells in white adipose tissue and has been found to be a signal to the brain, thus having primary influence on body weight. During a person’s lifetime, leptin levels drop. This drop may be accredited to the use of cortisone or the presence of progesterone and estrogen. For this reason, some young girls are prone to obesity during puberty.

Woman who are taking contraceptives, pregnant woman and those who have had hysterectomies, especially when it goes together with hormone replacement therapy, are also prone to lower levels of Leptin. Treating the symptoms and putting patients on a strict diet may work. However, if the leptin levels are not stabilized first, patients will put the weight back on once they start eating normal again.

Finally, we also offer ALMA body contouring laser procedures to compliment your weight loss programme and assist in shedding off those last few kilos and reducing the signs of cellulite significantly.
